Piroto case study
Dynamic Storage Systems were invited by Piroto Labelling Limited to investigate the current warehouse layout in order to cater for the growing business and therefore increased need for storage capacity.
Leigh Mann who is the owner of the business stated that unless significant increases in the current stock holding then the business may have to consider moving to alternative premises at the end of the current lease. This would have likely been a major disruption and cost to the business that was established in London in the early 1970’s as a price-marking label manufacturer.
Dynamic Storage Systems provided the installation of additional racking, timber decking, rack protection and safety netting for improved health and safety within the warehouse and production areas and was carefully planned over two weekend periods so as not to impact on the day to day business
Piroto specialise in the design and manufacture of labels, tags and identification systems, for a wide variety of applications including variable information printers. The 30,000 square foot factory in Northampton (occupied since 1999) was fitted out to our specifications, with emphasis on controlling airborne particulates. Flexibility in production is important in maintaining reliability and consistency of supply and most processes are duplicated.
Howard Gillard of Dynamic Storage Systems carefully analysed the operation and came up with a number of alternative layouts and cost estimates. With Sam Mackey – Operations Manager it was determined the best solution would be remove the heating system suspended in the roof and extending the pallet racking structure by adding a further storage level increasing storage capacity and an extra 30% capacity could be achieved with a quick return on the investment.
Dynamic Storage Systems provided the initial warehouse design consultancy and their expert impartial advice meant that Piroto could rely on a professional cost effective service project management from start to finish.
Completed on time and in budget we are extremely happy with the results.Leigh Mann
