Dynamic Storage Systems (DSS) has finalised a comprehensive internal fit out for SJD Electrical at the company’s new headquarters in Milton Keynes.

SJD Electrical undertakes electrical installations on behalf of an increasing number of commercial, industrial and domestic customers. Since its formation in 1996, steady growth meant that the company required additional office space and DSS was commissioned to design and install a complete office complex.

Covering a ground floor area of 90 metres², the first task for the DSS team was to assess the a warehouse design solution and internal layout that made best use of the available space. The next stage involved the stripping out of the existing internal construction used by the building’s previous occupiers. Then, having exposed the internal shell of the building, work could begin on the installation phase of the project.

The most significant element in maximising available space was the incorporation of a mezzanine floor that runs the full length of the building. This created not only an unobstructed first floor storage area of more than 50 metres² but also the structure for a ceiling covering the ground floor office layout.

In total, the fit out contract covered the design, supply of materials and installation of the mezzanine floor and a first floor office plus the creation of the ground floor layout. This comprises a reception area, a general office, two separate offices and a fully fitted kitchen. Additionally, the DSS installation team was responsible for carpeting throughout the office space plus all decoration.

Ruth Devine, Director of SJD Electrical is delighted with the finished result. She says, “We desperately needed extra space to support our continuing expansion and Dynamic Storage Systems came up with a fantastic design to make maximum use of the space we had. In fact, they handled everything including all the aspects relating to Building Regulations, the stripping out, partitioning, doors, glazing and decoration – a very professional one stop shop!”
