Case study for a major baking company
Dynamic Storage Systems have completed a new order for a dynamic pushback storage solution for David Wood Baking Ltd in the West Midlands.
The new order will provide storage capacity for 387 pallet spaces in a pallet pushback and standard pallet racking configuration within the new -280C freezer store. Dynamic Storage Systems provided independent expertise in the design, supply and installation of the solution recommended.
The new pallet pushback system will be storing standard 1200mm wide x 1000mm deep pallets up to 500Kg within blocks of racking with either 5 or 6 pallets in the depth.
Pallet pushback was chosen as the most effective storage solution to match the product profile. The pushback cart system is a very strong robust system and will provide many years of productivity for the company, although other storage equipment was considered the pushback system was the preferred solution.
In LIFO configuration (Last In First Out), a forklift truck loads and unloads the pallets at the picking face. This is a pushback system. To load a pallet, the forklift truck pushes the pallet at the picking face towards the back of the lane using the pallet to be loaded.
When a pallet is unloaded, the pallet stored behind automatically takes its place, thereby ensuring that the goods are constantly available at the picking face.
